In many countries it grows in the garden and at the cottage as a weed. We all know that it is actually a very medicinal plant that helps in the fight against warts and corns. Few, however, know how powerful it is in the fight against the hated ticks.

Treatment

I used the juice of coltsfoot to treat warts for years and years , but I only read about this use of it 5 years ago. I didn’t know that it is also excellent against ticks, but it is. I make oil from it that I put on myself whenever I go into nature .

For a full 5 years I haven’t had ticks, I put it into the dog’s coat too and he has ticks now and then, but really only minimally (not comparable to how he looked without it). Ticks probably really don’t like it. And a little gem at the end — when I told my grandmother about it as the discovery of the century, she grounded me by saying it’s nothing new. 😀

Oil against ticks, how to make it?

I collect coltsfoot in May–June and do it by tearing off whole plants, cutting them into smaller pieces (as you normally do when cutting herbs) and then I “stuff” them into glass jars. Then I take the simplest kitchen oil (sunflower) and pour it over them. Make sure that all parts of the plant are submerged in the oil.

Just close it, place it on the windowsill (somewhere the sun shines) and let it rest for 2 weeks. Then strain through cheesecloth and squeeze well, so that we get as much oil as possible, every drop counts . Store in a dark place and simply rub it on hands, legs (especially around the ankles) and even shoes . I also rub it around my neck, I have no skin reaction to this oil, but if you’re worried, try just a drop first to see how you tolerate it on your skin. I haven’t heard of any problems. I rub just a few drops into the dog’s coat and it works great too. I recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to use chemical repellents — for me this works a hundred times better!
