Every year I dealt with the problem of aphids on roses. Because I grow so many rose bushes in the garden, the aphids literally flooded the whole yard. The gardener advised me a simple and very effective recipe that I recommend everyone try. It works and you don’t have to buy any chemicals.

Laundry soap and water

This tip was given to me by an experienced gardener and I use it every season. I no longer have problems with aphids and the roses bloom beautifully.

Grate laundry soap (you need 4-5 tablespoons of flakes), dissolve in a liter of warm water and transfer the mixture to a spray bottle. Treat the plants with the solution especially on affected spots (I spray whole plants) and repeat the procedure every 2 weeks or after heavy rain.

Important! Use only plain laundry soap, because perfumed toilet soap will become an additional attractant for aphids and other harmful insects.

Ash decoction

Dissolve 300 – 400 g of wood ash in 10 l of water, bring the mixture to the boil and simmer it for 2 hours. Let the solution cool, remove large pieces (so they don’t clog the sprayer) and treat the rose bed as well as other plants that may be attacked by aphids.

Tobacco treatment against aphids

Pour 1 l of water over ½ a cup of tobacco and simmer the mixture for 30 minutes. Let it steep for 24 hours, strain, dilute with water in a 1:2 ratio and add a little laundry soap (10 – 20 g). Spray the roses with this solution every 14 to 20 days.

Infusion of onion skins against aphids

Pour 10 l of warm water over 200 g of onion skins and let the mixture steep in a warm place for 5 days. Then fill the solution into a spray bottle and spray affected plants as well as healthy plants (for preventive purposes).

Garlic infusion against aphids

Take several large garlic cloves from the area, crush the cloves with their skins, pour a bucket of water over them and let steep for 24 hours. Spray the affected bushes with this solution.
