Approximately 75% of the adult population has impaired vision, which forces them to wear glasses. Fortunately, there are ways to improve it, and if you know them, you can even avoid glasses! Here are 5 effective ways to strengthen your vision.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a miraculous plant. It is no wonder that people have used it as a natural remedy and in cosmetics for centuries. It has also been shown to be very effective for improving vision. It is an important source of necessary vitamins and antioxidants that affect tissue regeneration. In addition, it protects the delicate membranes that cover our eyes. So it is no surprise that aloe vera gel is a main ingredient in eye medicines used for cataracts and to strengthen the cornea of the eye. What is also important is that aloe vera keeps blood sugar levels low, thereby protecting you from developing diabetes. Many eye problems are often associated with diabetes. You can prepare aloe vera gel at home too. The plant can be grown in a pot.

It will not only be a beautiful decoration for your interior, but you can use its leaves whenever you need them. It is ideal if you cut the leaves for preparation 10 days before you process them. Always choose large or medium-sized leaves and let the small ones grow. If you want the freshly cut aloe vera leaves to last, put them in the refrigerator. Besides how to store them, it is also important to know how to get the healing gel from the leaves that is inside. First, cut the leaves into smaller pieces. Cut off the pointed ends. It is impossible to obtain gel from that part. Then remove the serrated edges. Cut the leaves into pieces 5-8 cm long. Turn the knife on its side and slowly separate the surface from the fleshy pulp. Try to work only superficially to get as much gel as possible. Put all the pulp with the gel into a bowl and blend until smooth using a blender. It will foam, but the foam will then disappear. Aloe can also be used as a pure extract, but we will tell you one great recipe.

We need:

  • 100 ml aloe vera gel
  • 450 g ground nuts
  • 300 ml honey
  • fresh juice of 4 lemons

Procedure:

Mix all the ingredients with a blender. Take 1 tbsp 3 times a day, half an hour before meals (preferably before breakfast, lunch and dinner). Follow this cure for at least a month. If you want to continue, take at least a 2-week break.

You may think that preparing aloe vera gel is too much work, but the results are truly amazing. It is really worth it! Already after the first month you will literally see a change in your vision.

Ginkgo biloba

This special little plant will really make your life easier. It will get rid of anxiety and strengthen memory, but besides that it can also improve your vision. It ensures sufficient blood flow to the eyes, thereby protecting us from glaucoma and macular degeneration. Ginkgo biloba can commonly be found in pharmacies, for example in capsule form. Split one capsule into 2-3 parts and take it every day. You will see what great effects it will have on your vision.

Green tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals. These can cause many eye diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. In addition, green tea is a kind of natural sun protection for your eyes. Its polyphenols protect the eyes from UV radiation, which can also lead to vision damage. The best green tea is made using 1 tablespoon of dried green tea per cup. The ideal water temperature for pouring the tea should be around 85 degrees. Let it steep for about 3 minutes. You can drink it hot or cold, it’s up to you.

Blueberries

This small berry fruit is known as a natural vision booster. They improve night vision and help regenerate important parts of the retina that can be damaged as a result of high blood pressure or diabetes. Like aloe or ginkgo, they protect against widespread eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts. You can include blueberries in your daily diet and consume them on their own, or with yogurt, pudding, oatmeal, etc. Half a cup of this fruit should be enough for you to soon feel an improvement in your vision. They can also be taken in the form of dietary supplements.

Almonds

These nuts are very popular and are also used in the preparation of various sweet treats. Besides being tasty, they contain a lot of beneficial substances for the body. They are primarily a great source of omega-3 fatty acids. In addition, they also contain vitamin E and antioxidants, which are great helpers in strengthening vision. Almonds will also help you improve memory and your ability to concentrate. All you have to do is soak about 5-10 almonds in water and leave them overnight. In the morning, peel and grate them. Put them into milk, stir and drink. You can safely drink almonds prepared this way every day for several months in a row.

Special exercises for healthy eyes: can improve vision by 2-3 diopters

Healthy eye muscles = healthy eyes

Bates was convinced that the cause is the eye muscles. The human eye moves in harmonious coordination by the external extraocular muscles that ensure symmetrical eye movements and the necessary visual acuity. Their condition therefore decisively affects the quality of vision. In 1920 he summarized his views and described an exercise method to improve vision in the book “Better Eyesight Without Glasses.” Decades of research and patient experiences since then have shown that this method can indeed improve vision!

Vision can improve by 2-3 diopters

We should feel an improvement in vision after approximately three to four months of practicing this method.

How to do it?

  • Perform the exercises in a calm environment, at least one hour after eating and without glasses.
  • Practice once a day for 10 minutes.
  • Perform the exercises slowly, breathe slowly and evenly while exercising.
  • You can exercise sitting or standing.
  • For all exercises, focus your awareness on the area between the eyebrows. Also try not to fidget during the exercise – stick to the instructions.
  • You can alternate and vary the exercises; try them anytime during the day – especially sharp eye movements.

Bates’ exercises to improve vision

Exercise 1. Place the tip of the index finger against the tip of the nose – the finger is parallel to the floor. Without blinking, focus your gaze on the tip of the finger. Keep the finger on the tip of the nose, concentrate your gaze on it. Slowly take a deep breath in and breathe out. 1-3 repetitions.

Exercise 2. Place the tip of the right index finger on the tip of the nose and focus on it. With a slow deep breath, move the finger away from the nose as far as possible – either as far as your arm allows, or until vision blurs. Keep looking at the fingertip. With a slow exhale return it to the tip of the nose. 1-3 repetitions.

Exercise 3. Eye movements. Dr. Bates considered consciously imitating eye movements to the sides, up, down and along the diagonals to be one of the best exercises. Movements should be done without unnecessary effort so the eyes can rest. It is recommended to perform 10 repetitions of movements first to the sides, then up and down, and finally along the diagonals. Only the eyes should move, without moving the head or neck. After each movement do not forget to blink. This exercise can be performed independently of other exercises during the day.

Exercise 4. Tilt the head as far back as possible. Look at the tip of the nose. Take a deep breath in and out. 1-3 repetitions.

Exercise 5. Tilt the head as far back as possible. Look at the area between the eyebrows. Breathe in slowly and deeply, then exhale slowly and deeply. 1-3 repetitions.

Exercise 6. Perform it sitting on a chair. Keep your back straight. Extend your arms in front of you, press the ring finger and little finger to the palm with the thumb, raise the index and middle fingers up “in a V”. Turn the palm edge-facing in front of the face at a distance of about 10-12 cm. Observe the fingertips.

With a slow inhale start moving the arm to the right until it stops, while still fixing your eyes on the fingertips.

With the exhale slowly return the hand to the starting position, keeping the eyes fixed on the fingertips.

Then with an inhale repeat the same to the other side, i.e. to the left.

Repeat three times on each side, then repeat with the other hand.

Exercise 7. Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Then exhale slowly and during the exhale gently massage the eyeballs with the second pads of the thumbs on both hands. At the end of the exhale hold your breath, open your eyes, cover them tightly with your palms and keep them on your eyes the whole time. Hold your breath as long as you can. The eyes are open and relaxed while doing this. Perform once.

Exercise 8. The exercise is done standing, with eyes open. Imagine a large letter X that occupies your entire field of vision. Besides the two usual intersecting lines it has one additional central line. You will jump your eyes from the end of one line to the other – top left point, bottom right point, etc. Eye movements are sharp; at the extreme point the gaze briefly fixes without blinking and then jumps elsewhere. Breathe slowly, without holding your breath. Change the order of the extreme points you fix on randomly so that you fix your gaze on each of them three times.

Exercise 10. Performed standing. You will “draw” a cross with your eyes. Eye movements will be vertical at first. Raise your eyes up and down as much as possible, then side to side when drawing the horizontal line. In each extreme position briefly fix your gaze. Then draw two crosses with your eyes at once and finally three. 10-15 repetitions.

Exercise 11. You will “draw” a square on the wall with your gaze, divided into four parts. In each part of the square imagine a circle. In your mind spin these circles, first one by one, then two simultaneously, three and four. Then spin the circles that are opposite each other, each in the opposite direction and finally all four circles will rotate at once in different directions. Perform the exercise for 1-2 minutes.

Exercise 12. Trace eights with your eyes: horizontal, vertical and two diagonally. The fixation area is close to the face. Trace each figure-eight first in one direction, then in the other. 1-2 repetitions on each side.

Exercise 13. Briefly look at a bright light source (rising or setting sun, lamp with a matte shade, etc.) Cover your eyes with your palms and try to “pull” the light spot into the area between the eyebrows. You can look at the light source for up to one minute.

Exercise 14. Fill the sink with clean water so that it is at room temperature. Submerge your face into it with open eyes and blink. Repeat three to five times. Then take a mouthful of water, lean over the sink and spray the full handfuls of water into your wide-open eyes. Repeat ten times.
