When I had a viral infection for a few days, this old remedy helped me overcome the problems without having to use antipyretics (we basically only take them when the thermometer shows more than 38.5). Tea from these leaves quickly induces sweating and the excretion of toxins from the body. It will therefore help you reduce your temperature even without medication. Of course, if problems persist and the temperature continues to rise, do not hesitate to see a doctor. For reducing fever, tea from fermented leaves is ideal; below is the instructions on how to prepare it.
What effects does raspberry leaf tea have and why make it?
- It provides relief in viral illnesses, inflammations and fever,
- stimulates the excretion of sweat and urine, helps flush toxins out of the body.
- Eliminates pain and cramps, which are associated with menstruation.
- It is suitable for various inflammations in the oral cavity, as well as for skin problems, because it has anti-inflammatory effects.
- Provides relief for diarrhea.
- Helps in the treatment of varicose veins – used for rubbing.
- Speeds up wound healing.
- Favorably affects digestion and facilitates childbirth. It is suitable for pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy because it stimulates the uterine muscles, but it is not suitable in the first trimester.
Raspberry leaf tea against fever
To prepare the tea you need 1 ½ – 3 tablespoons of freshly picked leaves, which are poured with 2.5 dcl of boiling water and left to infuse for 10 – 15 minutes. In the case of purchased dried mixtures, one teaspoon of the herb is used per cup of tea.
Raspberry tea can be drunk for the above-mentioned health complaints, or simply as a beverage as part of the daily fluid intake. No known side effects, however, women in the first trimester are advised not to drink more than one cup daily, because it stimulates the uterine muscles.
How to harvest the leaves and increase their healing effect?
Raspberry bramble is found in nature in clearings and is also cultivated in gardens. For gathering, raspberry leaves from the wild are ideal, and they can be picked from May until autumn. However, the best is to choose the period when the raspberry bramble is flowering. Then the leaves contain the most active substances. They are best dried in the shade with sufficient airflow. It is also possible to use a dryer, whereby the temperature must not exceed 40 ° C during drying.
This is how you enhance the medicinal effect of the leaves
The process of fermentation multiplies the beneficial effects of raspberry leaves, which acquire an even more appealing aroma. For fermentation, proceed so that fresh leaves are left to wither in a shady place for roughly 10 – 12 hours. Then roll over them with a roller and put them into a cloth bag. Place this in a warm spot for 24 – 48 hours. Then proceed as with normal drying.
