There is probably not a single household in which there has never been an orchid. It is one of the most popular houseplants, however not everyone knows how to care for it properly. Many of you write to us that your orchid bloomed profusely only once – when you brought it home from the shop. And that’s a great pity. I’ll advise you on an excellent soak, after which your orchid will literally bloom as if powered by batteries. Although I didn’t believe it, I tried it and it worked – within a month it bloomed like never before. However, you must follow the exact procedure!

Trick for a non-blooming orchid

So prepare this simple solution, which contains a large amount of important nutrients. Thanks to it, the orchid will be literally covered in flowers.

We need:

  • 1 liter of water
  • 3 cloves of garlic

The most important thing is the usage – do it exactly like this!

Really, so little is enough. You need only these 2 ingredients. Pour the water into a pot and bring it to a boil. Then remove it from the heat and let it cool. After it has cooled, stir in the crushed garlic cloves and let it sit for one day. Then strain this water into a shallow and wide container.

Place the potted orchid into this container so that the water reaches only about 1-2 cm above the bottom edge of the pot.

The water should “lick” the roots.

Leave the orchid submerged like this for about half an hour and then take it out of the bowl, let it drain and place it in a spot where there is plenty of sunlight. Do not use the prepared water as a watering solution! It is important that only the plant’s roots absorb the nutrients.

It is recommended to use this trick once a month, and after 2 months you should observe the first buds. You can also add one tablet of succinic acid (available at the pharmacy) to this solution, which just needs to be dissolved in the water.

According to research, succinic acid is effective against pests, molds, and the like.

And moreover, it helps the plant to root. Results should be visible already 10 days after using this homemade fertilizer.

Choose the right spot and give it soft light
For an orchid, it’s important to choose the right spot. If you have a room facing north, put it directly on the windowsill. Conversely, in rooms facing south or west, it is important that the plant is not exposed to direct sunlight. The most suitable spots are rooms facing east, where the plants receive only the morning sun. Don’t forget that the orchid loves soft light.
