Have you heard of poppy seed milk? This combination acts on the body – especially the female body during menopause – like a miracle. Poppy seeds are an amazing source of calcium; they contain 12 times more than dairy products. The water in which you soak the poppy seeds can unlock their healing potential fully. This drink is one of the richest sources of calcium, iron, vitamins, and minerals that women especially lack during menopause.
For weight loss and good digestion
Poppy seeds will quickly give you a feeling of a full stomach so you won’t feel the need to overeat. Their rich fiber content benefits bowel function, prevents constipation, and helps with digestive problems. In addition, they contain healthy fats that the body needs but does not store.
Prevents bone thinning and helps prevent osteoporosis
This is due to the high content of calcium and copper. These substances are needed by bones for their strength and protection from damage. These substances are especially lacking in women over 40. In addition to strengthening bones and tendons, they protect the heart, blood vessels, and nervous system.
For beautiful skin
Phosphorus, magnesium, and collagen ensure that the skin stays healthy and nourished from within. If you want to naturally support collagen production, simply reach for this drink.
Rich source of iron
Iron is very important for our blood, as well as for other internal organs. It is also essential for healthy hair, nails, and skin.
What else can poppy seed milk do?
- You will have better quality sleep.
- Protects the heart and blood vessels, improving their elasticity and circulation.
- Improves dental health.
- Reduces migraines.
- Boosts your energy.
- Helps with rheumatism.
- Fights chronic fatigue.
- Helps with coughs and respiratory tract inflammation.
How to prepare it?
Put whole poppy seeds into a bowl and cover them with water (maintain a ratio of about 1:5 — this ratio is only approximate; over time you will adjust it yourself according to which taste you prefer most). Let it rest overnight, thanks to which the poppy seeds will swell and release all their healing substances — otherwise they would simply pass through our digestive tract. A clear water similar to milk will form. Simply strain the liquid, but do not store the poppy seeds; all the useful substances are now in the liquid, which will acquire a milky white color. Then strain the liquid through a fine sieve or cheesecloth.
Don’t store the soaked poppy seeds; their taste and beneficial substances are already in the milk.
If you really don’t like the finished milk, you can sweeten it with honey or stevia. After flavoring, stir the milk well and put it in the refrigerator. It will keep in the fridge for a maximum of 2 days.
