Many of us do not even realize that various fertilizers and chemicals used in the garden can be replaced by the most common ingredients, such as garlic, sugar, salt, mustard, or kefir.
We all have them at home
To remove the first signs of mold on the leaves and fruits of these plants and to save the harvest, tomatoes are fertilized with potassium and phosphorus so they can ripen. However, there is an easier method:
1 liter of water mixed with 100 g of salt – pour this solution onto the plants.
After this process the leaves yellow and fall off, plant growth stops and all the energy is directed toward ripening the fruit. In addition, the thin layer of salt that forms on the tomatoes, protects against further development of mold.
Garlic solution
This can be prevented by spraying the plants with a fresh garlic solution:
Mix 50 g of garlic with a bucket of water or prepare a solution of fermented kefir from 1 liter of kefir diluted with a bucket of water.
If you do not want to grow beets, use salt. 30 – 50 g of salt is dissolved in a bucket of water and the resulting solution is poured onto the plants. But we must do this at the beginning of summer. Pour the salt solution at a distance of 10 cm from the roots.
You can fight cabbage pests with this effective method:
Prepare a concentrated sugar syrup. Place it in bowls on stands around the cabbage beds. Ideally the stands should be higher. The scent attracts pests and they simply stay on the stands.
During the rainy period gardens are attacked by slugs. The leaves of strawberries and fruit trees or bushes are especially attractive to them. Slugs usually attack plants in the evening, at night or early in the morning and during the day they rest somewhere in the shade – under boards in thick grass. Spread mustard where the slugs gather.
