It’s hard to imagine a modern apartment without a washing machine. We put items into the drum, press a button and after a while take them out and let them dry. To keep your helper serving you reliably for as long as possible, you must give it proper care. The washing machine repairman states that the most common cause of problems with the washing machine is a layer of limescale and dirt on the heating element. He recommended the simplest way to clean it. Do this at least once every 3 months.
How to cheaply clean a washing machine
According to statistics, one of the main causes of washing machine failure is the formation of a continuous layer of limescale and deposits on the heating element, as well as the clogging of the filter.
How to easily get rid of limescale?
(The tubular electric heater) performs the function of heating the water in the washing machine drum to operating temperature. If the amount of dirt in the water exceeds the norm – the risk of heater failure is very high. With each wash the layer of sediment becomes thicker and thicker until finally this component of the machine stops working completely.
How to clean a washing machine using citric acid
According to the repairman, the best cleaning agent for cleaning deposits is ordinary citric acid. For a washing machine with a 5-liter capacity you will need 100 – 120 g. Pour the acid into the detergent compartment and start washing at 60 degrees for 1 hour or longer. Besides the heating element, this method will also help to clean the washing drum!
How to clean a washing machine with vinegar
Pour 200–250 ml of 9% vinegar into the detergent compartment. Vinegar can quickly clean the heater, but its strength can damage rubber parts – hoses and seals. In this case, citric acid is a safer choice.
Some professionals recommend regularly adding citric acid to detergents when washing. Citric acid helps soften the water, removes unpleasant odors and slows down the formation of deposits and limescale.
How to clean the washing machine filter?
Open the cover, which we place on the floor: up to a liter of water may leak out! Then unscrew the cover counterclockwise and remove all accumulated dirt – the filter itself should be rinsed at least with water, preferably cleaned with an old toothbrush and dish soap. Then insert the filter back into the washer in the same way and secure it.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser
Remove the dispenser. Pour a little white washing powder into a bucket and add Savo to it. Stir and place the dispenser into this liquid. Leave it in this mixture for several hours – or even overnight. Then just rinse it.
However, do not pour out the liquid – we soak a cloth in it and briefly insert it into the dispenser opening . Let it act and then rinse with clean water.
Cleaning under the rubber seal
Mix bleach with warm water in a 1:1 ratio, moisten an old towel and wipe all internal surfaces. If the dirt is very stubborn, leave the towel inserted into the seal for 30 minutes. Then wipe and dry.
