Besides its health benefits, dill is also very useful in cooking. It can season meat wonderfully and gives dishes a unique flavor. It is also excellent, for example, in the popular dill-thickened sauce.

But how can you make sure dill stays fresh and tasty even after being picked? A simple way to keep it in perfect condition without freezing!

How to keep dill fresh without freezing?

First, thoroughly rinse the dill and then dry it – the herb should not be wet at all.

Wash the containers – glass ones are ideal – and also dry them thoroughly.

Then cut off the coarse stem from the dill and place it into the container.


Close the container and store it in the refrigerator.

When you need dill, simply take out as much as you need from the container.

You can store dill this way for 2–3 months.

How to keep dill for an even longer time?

First wash the dill, let it dry a little and chop it finely. Remove the hard parts of the stems, place the dill into a glass jar, press it down with your fingers and pour vinegar over it.
