Alpa and clove for flies and mosquitoes

I don’t have screens and we don’t have flies or mosquitoes at home, it’s great and ready in a few seconds.

All summer I’ve tried an excellent homemade remedy – at the cottage in the garden: in an older shallow bowl that I use only this way, I pour a whole bottle of white Alpa, I add 20-30 cloves to it, and let it steep all summer. The Alpa will darken over time (that doesn’t matter).

During the whole summer, while we are at the cottage, the doors are open and there isn’t a single mosquito or fly, not even a wasp; if one accidentally flies in, I can take it out of the cottage with a bucket immediately. From time to time, if the Alpa evaporates, we top it up. I also use this recipe at home, because the rooms are larger than in the garden cottage; I put one in each room. I buy a large 1-liter Alpa for this and I’m set for the whole summer. It’s definitely better than buying chemical plug-in repellents or using other solutions. It’s non-toxic and really effective. 🙂

Never-fail repellent against flies and mosquitoes

An old trick that still works today. I make this repellent every year and it worked for me and my whole family. Don’t be afraid to use even the cheapest mint shampoo. Its scent combined with vinegar is very unpleasant for mosquitoes. 🙂

We will need

  • vegetable oil
  • Vinegar (9%)
  • Mint hair shampoo

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients in equal proportions and pour into a spray bottle. You will get a white emulsion that will last you the whole season.

How to use? Simply spray a very small amount on exposed parts of the body. Now you can forget about the annoying buzzing around your ears and painful stings. Flies and mosquitoes will no longer like you; instead they will keep away from you at a distance. 🙂

My grandmother’s never-fail repellent

I use this repellent every year; when kids go outside I also put it on their wrists and around their ankles. I’ve tested it and it’s also excellent for treating small scratches, it soothes, and it’s also ideal for toothache. For 1 euro you have relief for the whole season.

we need:

  • 30-40 cloves
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 200 ml Alpa or alcohol at least 40%

This trick works against flies and wasps too

I would like to share a perfect remedy against flies and wasps; you’ll definitely use it at the beginning of summer. I do this every year and I don’t even have window screens. Flies and wasps will avoid you.

Stinging insects don’t like rhubarb, and its scent also bothers them – my grandmother taught me this, and that’s why I keep growing rhubarb. Rhubarb leaves are excellent for repelling. All you have to do is pour water over about 14 larger leaves (it’s good to tear the leaves) and let it steep (in two liters of water). Then insert a sprayer and use it as a repellent. I keep a bottle handy on the terrace. Remember that rhubarb can be used in recipes – but only until the end of June (while the stalks are young).

Mosquito trap – works indoors and outdoors

This trap attracts much more than your blood. Just place it in a few spots, for example around the terrace, or even inside the apartment. Believe that mosquitoes cannot resist this “treat”, but they won’t get out of it. A trap made from sugar or honey and yeast is effective because it releases carbon dioxide by fermentation and produces heat, which attracts mosquitoes.

We need:

  • 3 dl water – about 1 cup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried yeast (fresh can also be used)
  • a clear 2-liter PET bottle

How to do it:

Cut the bottle in half. Put the brown sugar into warm water and stir until it dissolves. Let the sweet solution cool and then pour it into the bottom of the bottle. Add the yeast, which does not need to be stirred. The yeast produces carbon dioxide, which very much attracts mosquitoes. Insert the top half of the bottle upside down. If they don’t stick together, glue them together. Wrap the bottom of the bottle with something black or simply paint it black. The top part remains open. The whole trick is that mosquitoes like to hide in dark places, especially where they sense carbon dioxide. I’ve gotten used to distributing the mixture into several bottles.

How to get rid of mosquitoes

Many of you go for walks in nature, or just relax in your gardens. I want to give you a recipe that will rid you of ticks, which can really spoil pleasant moments. I personally have been using it for more than ten years, and it is an old recipe from a hunter. I can tell you that it works 100%. When I use it, I’ve never had ticks and neither mosquitoes nor horseflies bother me.
