Some people go to a pedicure regularly and especially in the summer months cannot imagine life without professional care. Some go to a pedicure only occasionally, usually when they have a problem they cannot handle. However, there is a fairly large group of people who avoid such salons altogether, perhaps because they had a negative experience in the past, or because it may seem too personal to have a stranger take care of their feet.
Importance of feet without cracked skin
Whether you belong to any of these groups, you will surely appreciate a recipe that will help you always have smooth feet without any cracks. It is important to keep in mind that cracks are not only an aesthetic problem, but represent a breach in the skin surface where dirt can enter and cause, for example, an unpleasant infection. Cracks usually appear when the skin of the feet is too dry.
Our home treatment offered today will not cost you much, yet you will feel as if you were in the very best salon.
How to prepare a home bath
For the home spa treatment you will need:
- 4 to 5 l of hot water
- 2 tablespoons of baking soda
- an essential oil with a favorite scent, and
- hydrating body lotion or cream.
As for the procedure, it is as follows. Add the baking soda to the bowl of hot water and stir until it dissolves. The water should be a pleasant temperature, neither cold nor hot. If you want to make the procedure more pleasant in scent, use a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
Soak your feet in the bath and leave it on for at least 15 minutes. After this time, remove the dead layer of skin with a scraper, pumice or loofah until the surface of the soles is smooth. Rinse your feet with clean water, dry them, massage body lotion or cream into the skin and put on cotton socks. These will help the skin absorb the maximum amount of hydration. Ideally leave them on overnight and if you did the treatment during the day, wear them for at least several hours.
If you want to increase the effect of the bath, you can apply a paste of water and baking soda to the skin before using the pumice or loofah and leave it on for a while.
You can repeat the treatment to improve the condition of the skin on your feet as needed, depending on how cracked the skin is.
