Fatty bacon is for some a delicacy they can never resist, others avoid it mainly because it somehow doesn’t fit into their healthy eating pattern. However, that’s a mistake, because bacon contains a large amount of vitamins and beneficial substances. Its consumption in moderation will only benefit you. Besides, it also has other fantastic properties that are not related to its consumption.
It can actually help with toothache or tonsillitis.
What does it contain?
Raw bacon contains a number of health-promoting substances. In this meat product there is vitamin B1 (thiamin, aneurin), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin E and also minerals – calcium, iron, phosphorus, etc. Together these components work wonders! It also contains polyunsaturated fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own and without which the organism does not function properly. Another interesting substance is arachidonic acid, which partially breaks down the cholesterol we consume with food. Hyaluronic acid is also present, which acts against skin aging.
If you belong to the people for whom bacon is the best “dessert”, you should definitely try this delicate bacon in a salty brine!
Bacon in a jar
We need:
- 4 kg of raw pork bacon with skin
- 2 l of water
- 400 g of salt
- garlic
Method:
First, cut the bacon into smaller pieces and pack them tightly into preserving jars.
Add garlic cloves.
Into each jar we place one bay leaf and two peppercorns.
Pour water into a pot, add the salt and bring to a boil. Pour the hot brine into each jar with the bacon and cover with a lid (do not close tightly). Place the jars into a large pot and fill with water up to 3/4. Cover with a lid and sterilize at a low temperature for about 2 hours.
After 2 hours, remove the jars, tightly seal the lids and turn the jars upside down. Let them cool slowly at room temperature and then put them in the refrigerator where they will cool thoroughly. Enjoy!
