Do you also belong to the parents who occasionally like to treat their children to a well-known and beloved sweet from the Kinder company across generations? Whether it’s the bars or the Kinder Surprise chocolate egg, you should take notice!
Based on recent investigations by the German organization FoodWatch, which focuses on protecting consumer rights and food quality, it was found that this children’s chocolate contains carcinogens. The presence of carcinogens in any diet, and especially in a child’s diet, is completely undesirable.
All of this because of the chocolate’s improved taste
Carcinogens are dangerous substances for the body that are essentially responsible for the development of cancer in the human body. Throughout life we should be on guard and eliminate these substances as much as possible. We also introduce them into the human body, for example:
- By smoking
- By consuming alcohol
According to the statement of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), in the case of children’s chocolate it concerns an undesirable hydrocarbon known by the abbreviation MOAH. This hydrocarbon is carcinogenic and also mutagenic. This substance is a by-product obtained thanks to the extraction process of mineral raw materials, such as oil.
MOAH is a component of mineral oil that contributes to the better taste of the chocolate, which is the main reason it is added during production. Not only Kinder-branded products, but also chocolate candies from the brands Ferrero, Rübezahl and Lindt contain this carcinogenic mineral oil.
Bribing scientists and journalists as common practice
FoodWatch further warns that the manufacturers of these foods influence their scientists in terms of various bribes and similarly try to influence journalists who then write fake articles in their favor.
However, as Ferrero states in its defense to this fact, the occurrence of these carcinogenic oils is practically everywhere in the entire environment, namely especially in packaging materials or paint. This claim can rather be perceived as an excuse.
Given the harmfulness of this children’s chocolate, Kinder chocolate eggs are even banned in the state of Chile. If you want the best for your children, avoid these products and do not buy them.
