What lover of beautiful flowers wouldn’t like orchids. If you have this plant at home, you are surely looking forward to it blooming. Orchid flowers are a joy to watch. But sometimes they are reluctant to bloom. Today we have prepared several tips for you on how you can give your little flower a bit of a push.
The truth is that orchids are very sensitive to the environment in which you grow them. For them to thrive, they need a special climate, which is very difficult to achieve at home between four walls. Read how to make your orchid do well at home. What can you try?
- simulate a dry period
- simulate the rainy season
- use chemicals
Choose one of the methods and enjoy the fruits of your labor! But don’t overdo it, really choose just one, stick with it and apply it consistently. If you try them all at once, you may harm the plant. If it seems that the method you chose isn’t working, be patient. You’ll see that the buds will soon sprout.
Create a dry environment to shock your orchid
Some orchids simply don’t want to bloom. This often happens because you’ve created conditions that are too good for them. To provoke the plant into flowering, you must put it into a small shock. It’s best if you do this so as to simulate its natural environment. The easiest to imitate is the dry period. Tropical rains regularly alternate with drought, so ensure the plant’s natural yearly cycle by slightly drying out its environment.
Regular watering makes the leaves grow. A change in climate will provoke the orchid to bloom. If you fertilize it with a fertilizer that contains nitrogen, stop for a while. The plant will then form buds with future flowers. Make sure the temperature is not higher than 30 degrees and water less. It’s best to skip one watering. Keep the plant in this state for at least two weeks. Once buds appear, start caring for it as before.
Another method is a warm shower. This method supports both flowering and the overall growth of the plant. It’s important to maintain the correct temperature and not to cook the plant. So be careful. Wrap the flowerpot in a plastic bag. Now let the water from the shower gently fall on the plant. The water must be 45 degrees. Repeat for 10-12 days. Then let the plant cool down.
Trick the plant, create conditions like during the rainy season
For this method heat the water to 35 degrees. Water with warm water for 3-4 days. Then do not water at all for two weeks. Afterwards start watering the same way as before. Wait for buds to appear.
Try succinic acid
Get this unusual natural chemical and immerse the roots in it. Also spray it on the plant’s leaves. This will strengthen the plant’s immunity, speed up its development, improve growth, and above all force it to start flowering.
