The fight against blood pressure is never-ending, especially when you fall into the clutches of the pharmaceutical industry. The truth, however, is that a long-term elevated level of pressure in our blood vessels does us no good at all, quite the opposite. It can lead to many health problems and in many cases even end in death, because it can trigger a fatal stroke or heart attack. Besides the chemical drugs that our general practitioner will most likely prescribe to lower the pressure, there are also a number of other remedies and methods to bring your pressure back to normal and thus extend your life.

Sudden spikes in pressure can be dangerous

You can easily recognize a sudden rise in blood pressure by a headache. If the pressure is too high, it can also cause nosebleeds, ruptured vessels in the eye, or vision problems. In addition, it can cause chest pain or pain in the ears.

The so-called hypertensive crisis is usually mild, but it can also have serious health consequences, such as the aforementioned stroke or acute heart failure. Therefore, a state of elevated pressure should not last long, which can be helped either by medication or by various alternative methods, such as acupressure.

The methods described below can help you even when you are taking medication but your pressure suddenly rises uncontrollably and you don’t have medication or are not within reach of medical help. This way you buy time to seek a doctor. Always keep in mind that these methods are not a way to treat chronic high blood pressure, but „only” first aid in emergency situations.

1. Acupressure point on the hand

The most accessible rescue acupressure point against high blood pressure is located at the tip of the middle finger on the hand. For quick relief, press the tip of the middle finger firmly with the tip of a pen and hold for one minute. You will know you have found the point easily by its higher sensitivity compared to its surroundings.

2. Acupressure point on the foot

A more effective point to lower pressure is located on the instep of the foot. It is the spot where the bones of the first and second toe join, a few centimeters from the gap between these toes. Again you will recognize it by the fact that it is more sensitive to pressure than other points in its vicinity. Press it firmly again either with your finger or, better, with the tip of a pen and hold for 3 seconds. Then release for 5 seconds and repeat for two minutes.

This point is highly effective at lowering pressure.
