Maybe you also belong to people who try to minimize the use of painkillers as much as possible, for example for the reason of preventing a reduction in their effectiveness with regular use or for the reason of not wanting to burden your body too much with some components of these drugs that the body breaks down slowly.
You may also find yourself in a situation where you would take painkillers, but do not have them available and do not have access to them, because for example you are spending the weekend in a rented mountain cottage or on a boat.
In such cases it is good to know that you can help yourself with pain in a certain way, particularly in specific situations such as
- adjusting your diet
- adjusting your fluid intake
- incorporating a certain type of exercise, and
- using the natural properties of certain substances.
Below we offer you several specific tips.
Headache and increased fluid intake
If you have problems with headaches, it is recommended to increase fluid intake, especially plain water. You should drink regularly, at least every two hours. It is precisely a low fluid intake that is often the cause of headaches and by balancing it the problem is eliminated.
Headache and aromatic essential oils
You can combine increased fluid intake with the beneficial effects of an essential oil, for example peppermint or lavender, diluted in coconut or another similar oil. For relief, a few drops directly on the forehead, into a water bath or on a piece of paper are sufficient.
Sore throat and chocolate
A possibly surprising „remedy“ that eases sore throat pain is chocolate with a high cocoa content. It is the cocoa that is behind the secret of chocolate’s effects on these troubles.
Toothache and mint tea
The broad-spectrum effects of mint are fairly well known, but its active action against toothache is less known. Mint has soothing, antibacterial and analgesic effects. Boil mint leaves and for greater effect simmer them for 20 minutes. Then rinse your mouth with the still warm liquid.
Toothache and cloves
Our ancestors knew the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of cloves and you can learn from their experience. When a toothache troubles you, you can hold a clove in your mouth, which will begin to act, or you can first soak it in cold water, in a sealable jar or another suitable container. Then hold the clove infusion in your mouth for as long as possible. You will feel its strong astringent effects and relief from the pain.
