For the vast majority of people, summer is associated with vacation, relaxation and the replenishment of energy in nature. However, it cannot be overlooked that this beautiful season also brings some negatives, such as annoying insects, whether they are mosquitoes, flies, wasps or ticks. Insects are not only unpleasant, but can also be dangerous because they sometimes transmit serious diseases.
To enjoy your dream moments in nature without fear of ticks, we’ll suggest a perhaps surprising but simple and effective way to repel them.
You will only need
- essential oil, and
- a sticky roller for cleaning garments.
And how does it work? Before a walk or trip, drip some essential oil onto the roller and spread it thoroughly and evenly over its surface. Then roll it repeatedly over your clothing so that the oil adheres to it. If you have spread the oil evenly on the roller, you don’t have to worry about stains on your clothing.
If you’re wondering which essential oil to choose, we have a few suitable tips for you.
Lavender oil
Interestingly, this oil repels insects, while the scent of lavender is pleasant and attractive to humans. So it’s natural to make use of this unique property of lavender. The advantage of this oil is that, in addition to ticks, it also deters other types of insects, for example persistent mosquitoes.
Citrus oil
If you’re looking for a fragrant yet effective oil that works as an insect repellent, it’s definitely worth choosing citrus oil. Thanks to it, fleas and other troublesome insects will also stay away from you, in addition to ticks.
Eucalyptus oil.
Another suitable oil for our purposes is eucalyptus oil, which you can use on its own or enhance its effects by combining it with citrus oil.
Besides the effectiveness of this method, its undeniable advantage is also that your clothing will always smell pleasant and unobtrusively fragrant.
To avoid applying oil to clothing, people sometimes combine a few drops of their favorite essential oil with a little water. When they pour this mixture into a spray bottle, they obtain a gentle aromatic water that they apply directly to the skin. However, you should be careful not to apply this liquid mixture directly to hot skin during high temperatures, otherwise it may cause unpleasant irritation.
