Favorite food from the school canteen? Believe it, such dishes do exist. The cooks from the kindergarten know all about it — they have written down recipes for 10 soups that children love. At the same time these are recipes for healthy soups that you can make for literally a few crowns. In fact, their preparation doesn’t take too long either, which will please all the housewives who don’t have time to spare. And which soups are we talking about? Try mixed-pulse, lentil, alphabet, semolina, yeast, bryndza, broccoli, pea, milk or cheese soup!
Mixed-pulse
Popular not only among children but also with adults is the mixed-pulse soup. You only need for it: legumes, garlic, parsley, potato, salt, pepper and ground paprika. For the base with a roux also prepare onion, oil and plain flour. Cook the soup in the classic way, and finish by seasoning with marjoram and parsley.
Lentil
Another recipe that is never missing from a child’s selection is lentil soup. For the preparation you need: 250 g lentils, water, bay leaf, 200 g potatoes, salt and 2.5 dl sour cream. You should also have 30 g plain flour, vinegar or lemon juice for seasoning. Prepare the soup again in the usual classic way.
Tomato with alphabet pasta
The popular tomato soup with alphabet pasta is inseparable from the school menu. Children from kindergarten love this soup, so it mustn’t be missing from the list. For its preparation get: 3 tomatoes, or 5 cherry tomatoes, 350 ml tomato purée, water, bay leaf, cane sugar (or granulated sugar) and alphabet pasta. Cook the soup in the classic way; the letters can also be replaced by other pasta shapes, animals or pictures.
Semolina
A kindergarten or school menu without soup with semolina dumplings? Children practically demand this soup, so prepare it at home as well from 2 teaspoons of butter, frozen vegetables and vegetable stock. For seasoning you’ll still need salt and pepper; for making the dumplings 2 eggs, 7 tablespoons of semolina for children and a few drops of oil. The preparation is easy because the soup is cooked in the usual way.
Yeast
This soup is also among the favorites, so get ready 1 onion, 200 g root vegetables, a cube of yeast, oil and homemade vegetable seasoning. Prepare the dumplings from children’s semolina and oil. Cook in the normal way.
Bryndza
Originally from our neighbors, bryndza soup is very popular. For the preparation you need: potatoes, bryndza, semi-coarse flour, eggs, ground caraway and salt for seasoning. It’s good to add small pasta to the soup. Cook as usual and you’ll be surprised how quickly it disappears from the pot!
Broccoli
The silky cream of broccoli is something children can’t praise enough. Moreover broccoli soup is extremely healthy; prepare it for the children at home from 6 mushrooms, 250 g cream cheese, 200 g broccoli, carrots, onion and several smaller potatoes. For the preparation you will also need vegetable oil. After cooking blend it smooth with an immersion blender, you can garnish with a mint leaf.
Pea
School menu without pea soup? Children love pea soup; you can prepare it with semolina dumplings or with croutons from stale bread. To prepare the soup you will need 350 g peas, 2 carrots, 3 potatoes, a bunch of parsley and a tablespoon of oil. For making the dumplings you must have: 2 eggs, a teaspoon of salt and 100 g semolina. Cook the soup in the classic way. For the crouton variant, toast cubed sliced bread or rolls until golden and sprinkle them over the soup just before serving.
Milk
The white soup is among school classics, so prepare it from ½ l milk, ½ l water, ½ an egg, 60 g semolina flour and salt to taste. Anyone can manage the preparation, and it tastes wonderful.
Cheese
The last soup in the selection of the most popular ones is cheese soup with a crumb topping, for which you will need: 6-7 potatoes, 1.3 l water, salt, 1 l milk and 150 g cream cheese. Prepare the crumb topping from 1 egg, coarse flour and salt. The preparation is similar to all the other soups; this one is also ready in a few minutes. It tastes wonderful with that!
