Thanks to its watery character and relatively mild taste you can use zucchini in salads, but also in sweet desserts – when properly preserved, zucchini jam can taste like pineapple. Zucchini is also a very good side dish for various meals; you can prepare it as a purée or as part of a grilled mix. The following recipe will give you instructions on how to prepare a tasty side dish in the form of zucchini rings.

Baked zucchini rings

Baked zucchini rings or slices are an excellent and light side dish that you can serve with meat or just as a snack with a creamy dip. Their preparation is easy and quick and you will love their taste.

Ingredients for preparing zucchini rings

For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • Medium-sized zucchini – 2 pieces
  • All-purpose flour – ½ cup
  • Sour cream – ½ cup
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Fresh herbs for seasoning

Preparation method for zucchini rings

The preparation of the side dish then consists of the following steps:

  1. Wash the zucchini; if it has a tough skin, peel it, and slice it into rounds about half a centimeter thick.
  2. Place the slices into a sturdy plastic bag, add the flour, seasoning, salt and pepper, and then shake well.
  3. Then arrange the zucchini on a baking sheet greased with butter and put it into an oven preheated to 180-200 °C.
  4. The zucchini should bake for 15-20 min. Approximately halfway through baking, turn the slices so they brown on both sides.
  5. After baking, remove the rings from the oven and prepare a dip from sour cream flavored with salt, pepper and fresh herbs.

You can serve the rings on their own with the creamy dip as bite-sized appetizers, for example at parties. At the same time, this recipe can be used if you want to replace baked potatoes with something new and unusual and thus diversify your menu with a light side dish.
