Do you love cheese? If so, you don’t always have to just buy it. You can easily make it at home. It has several advantages. You’ll know that the cheese in question is fresh, and you can be sure it will be free of chemicals. Moreover, you can experiment quite interestingly with flavors and prepare several varieties that go well with bread, but also just on their own.

What will you need?

To ensure your homemade cheese turns out well, you won’t do without a few essential ingredients. Which ones? These are completely ordinary items that you can easily obtain in the store. Specifically, you will need to buy the following:

  • 1 liter of unpasteurized milk
  • 45 ml of lemon juice
  • 100 g of natural yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons of cream
  • Salt to taste

The preparation is simple

First, take the milk and start heating it in a perfectly clean pot. Once the milk starts to boil, turn off the heat, put the lid on the pot and let the milk sit like this for 20 minutes. Then add all the ingredients to it: the cream, then the yogurt, and finally the lemon juice. After that, just stir.

The pot with its contents should return to the stove, where you should cook everything very slowly until the whey begins to separate. At that moment turn off the heat and start stirring your cheese base thoroughly. Then simply strain it through a cloth. The liquid that passes through is essentially not needed, and what remains in the cloth is the base for your cheese.

To this base add salt to taste, but don’t be afraid to add, for example, various herbs or spices. There are no limits to imagination and taste in this case. Let it drain for a longer period and then proceed to shape the cheese. When you are satisfied with the shape and consistency, place your cheese in the refrigerator, where the temperature should not be higher than 4 degrees Celsius. After chilling it should be ready. And then you can make the first cut and, above all, taste it.
