Do you love homemade baking of sweet treats, but are you running out of ideas? Try the recipe our grandmothers used. Cookies prepared according to it are so delicious that they are passed down from generation to generation and people still enjoy their tender flavor to this day.
Ingredients
You can work with commonly available ingredients listed below, but you can also experiment and replace regular flour with, for example, a gluten-free option for a healthier menu.
- 300 g plain flour
- 150 g butter
- 2 eggs
- 150 g sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- ½ baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- A tablespoon of cocoa
Preparation
Prepare the flour in a bowl, add the baking powder, salt, sugar mixed with the vanilla sugar, eggs and chopped butter. Mix everything thoroughly and form the dough. If it seems too runny, add flour; if, on the contrary, it is too dense, loosen it with water.
Cookie press
Our grandmothers had a special cookie press. Thanks to the attachments they could create different shapes. If you received such a press from your grandmother or found it in the attic, definitely try to use it. If you don’t have one, use cookie cutters or a regular knife.
Two-colored cookies
If you really want to have fun with the baking and care about the shape and color of the cookies, divide the dough into two halves. Add cocoa powder to one and after baking you will have light and dark cookies. You can join them, for example, with jam or chocolate.
Baking
Finally comes the hardest part, the baking. Place baking paper on a sheet and carefully place the cookies on it. Always leave gaps between them, because they will expand during baking and could merge. Preheat the oven to 175 °C and bake the cookies for 12–15 minutes. It depends on the size of the shape you chose. Before you start removing them from the sheet, make sure they are already cool, otherwise they could break.
