Health problems can manifest in many ways without us necessarily feeling them. It’s only a question of how much attention we pay to them, or whether we know what and where to look. Some will reveal themselves — temperature, blood pressure, the shape of your stool. Others a person may not notice, even though they are in plain sight every day.
If you clean your teeth daily (you do, right?) you may have noticed many times that the surface of the tongue isn’t purely red like in comics, but there are… spots on it. Those can be the indicators we’re looking for and that will show us potential problems.
What your tongue can reveal
We therefore have a tip for a simple test that uncovers possible problems with internal organs. You don’t need any complicated or expensive device costing tens of thousands of crowns. You will only need a spoon, a light, and a plastic bag. So how to do it?
Place a spoon in your mouth with the underside facing up and run it over the entire surface of your tongue.
Then put the spoon into a plastic bag and place it under a strong light (sunlight or a bulb). Wait about one minute and check the spoon. If the spoon is clean, without stains and any unpleasant odor, we have good news for you. Almost certainly your internal organs are not troubled by any problems.
If you smell an odor, it could mean the following:
- A smell like something rotting – problems related to the lungs
- A sweet odor – you may be suffering from diabetes
- An ammonia smell – something is troubling your kidneys
Are there stains on the spoon?
- White or yellow suggest a thyroid dysfunction.
- Purple indicates bronchitis, or possibly poor blood circulation and a high cholesterol level in the blood.
- White – a respiratory infection.
- Orange is associated with kidney diseases.
All this can be revealed by your tongue test. However, bear in mind that all these indications are for informational purposes only and are by no means a substitute for a thorough examination by a general practitioner or a specialist.
