Warts are skin growths caused by the HPV virus, also known as the human papillomavirus. Since this is a viral infection, warts can be transmitted even by simple touch. Their development can take 2-6 months. They are usually harmless and disappear on their own over time. However, because they are unsightly and can be bothersome, many people decide to get rid of them earlier.

Liquid nitrogen

One option is a visit to a dermatologist, where warts are destroyed using liquid nitrogen. When applied, the wart becomes frozen; a blister then forms at the site, the wart falls off, and healthy skin should grow underneath. However, a single visit is not always enough and the treatment may need to be repeated.

However, we have several tips on how to get rid of warts without visiting a doctor, using natural remedies that you can easily prepare at home.

Garlic

Peel the garlic, crush it and firmly tie it to the wart with a bandage. Repeat this procedure every night until it disappears.

Honey

Another option is to use honey. Spread honey on the wart and secure it with a bandage. Leave it on overnight.

Apple cider vinegar

Soak a cotton pad in apple cider vinegar and apply it to the affected area. Again, secure with a bandage and leave it on overnight.

Other options

Other remedies that can help fight warts include:

  • celandine
  • banana peel
  • tea tree oil
  • pineapple
  • dandelion juice

How to prevent them

If you want to avoid warts, you need to avoid direct contact with them. Another important rule is to separate hygiene tools — do not use the same pumice stone or scissors on warts and on healthy skin at the same time, as you can easily spread them to yourself that way.

Do not bite your nails or the skin around them; the virus can easily enter this damaged skin. And finally, avoid any scratching, cutting or trimming of warts — this can easily spread them to other parts of your body.
