Healing of wounds on the body can take a long time. The scab that forms bothers us, doesn’t look nice, often it itches, so it’s no wonder that we often remove it before the skin is completely healed, and a scar forms. For larger wounds a scar will always form; it only depends on how well we manage to heal and smooth it. There are many products on the market that promise miraculous healing of any old and large scars. Before you reach for chemicals, try our natural recipe, you won’t regret it.

You don’t have to buy expensive products, two ingredients are enough

For preparing a homemade ointment for scars and subsequent application we will need:

  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon,
  • 1 tablespoon of honey,
  • gentle soap,
  • clean towel.

In a clean bowl mix a tablespoon of liquid honey with a tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Before application gently wash the scar with soap. Choose only baby or very mild soap to avoid possible irritation and drying. Then dry and apply the honey mixture to the scar. Leave it on for approximately 30 minutes and then remove the mixture (for example with a towel soaked in warm water). If the scar is on the face, leave the mixture on for only 10 minutes to avoid irritation.

Nature also offers other alternatives to support scar healing

If for some reason you cannot or do not want to use the mixture mentioned above, there are other remedies you probably have in the kitchen or can buy in any store. Doctors themselves often recommend lubricating scars with unsalted pork lard. If you want even better effects, you can macerate marigold flowers in the melted lard, or simply buy a ready-made marigold ointment. Olive, argan or almond oil will also help with scars, but beware, oils should always be applied to damp skin, otherwise they will dry it out. We are sure that using one of our recommendations will help you reduce the visibility of your scar.
