They say that old houses have their secrets. No, in this particular house it is neither haunted nor did any crime take place here. The house in question hid a shocking surprise in its insides. One Reddit user shared this story with us — he had inherited the house from his grandparents, whom he loved very much and always remembered with affection. When he inherited their old house, he had no idea that the old property was by no means the only inheritance his grandparents had left him.
His childhood dream was fulfilled to the letter thanks to his grandparents
The man said that his grandparents read to him very often. Through adventurous stories they developed his imagination and, even as a child, he dreamed that one day he would find a real treasure. He had no idea that his childhood dream would one day become reality.
The dilapidated house was not the most valuable thing his grandparents left him
After some time the man decided to completely renovate the old house. He did not just plan to repaint and replace the furniture. The house was due for a total reconstruction. First, of course, he had to empty the entire dwelling. He began clearing out old equipment and various junk. Only the musty, heavy carpets remained to be taken away. When he pulled back the last of them, to his surprise he discovered a secret compartment in the floor, in which there was a safe. Getting into it, however, was not at all easy. The safe was fitted with a very ingenious lock which, despite all his efforts, he could not unlock or pry open. But he was determined to find out what the safe was hiding.
He called in a professional
When all his attempts to open the safe failed, he called a locksmith company and it sent a worker to him, with whose help he finally got inside. What he discovered in the safe absolutely exceeded his expectations. At first he came across bricks and dirty water, but beneath that were hidden:
- Books with coins from 1937 – beautiful coins, some of them very rare
- A quantity of old banknotes
- Old pistols and watches
- A box with jewelry and gold bars
The surprised grandson discovered a genuine treasure. His grandparents had left him a fortune.
