Do you have favorite jeans that no longer look as charming as they used to? They are already worn, in many places rubbed through and full of holes, but you don’t want to give them up for anything? Do you recognize yourself in this situation? If so, this article is written especially for you! Today we’ll tell you how you can turn an old but still beloved piece in your wardrobe into a new and original model!
Bleach them
As you surely know, Savo can “eat out” the color from clothing. When using it for cleaning, carelessness can easily cause clothes to become discolored. This accident has certainly happened to many of us. But now try to make bleaching an advantage! You will only need a few things for this:
- Savo
- jeans
- stencil
- plastic sheet
If you don’t have Savo in a spray, you will also need a spray bottle to pour it into. Make the stencil preferably from stiff paper – cardstock. However, you can also use other items; for example a piece of old curtain with a nice pattern or lace works great.
Procedure
Before bleaching, it is advisable to iron the jeans first. Place a piece of plastic sheet under the spot where you want to create a picture or pattern. You need to use it so that Savo does not soak through to the lower layer, where it could bleach ugly stains. Then place the stencil. If the stencil is larger, you certainly won’t spoil anything by fixing it in place. Now simply spray the stencil with the spray bottle and wait 5-10 minutes. After the time has passed, carefully remove the stencil. Now all that’s left is to wash the jeans. Put them in the washing machine and run a normal wash cycle, as usual. Add a little vinegar to the washer to get rid of the unpleasant smell from the Savo.
Finally, after drying, you can for example paint the picture with textile paints.
What to watch out for
When bleaching you should definitely ventilate adequately. Prolonged inhalation of the fumes can be toxic.
Also be careful not to spray a thick layer, as this could cause bleeding, which would result in an unattractive outcome. If, when removing the stencil, you use an old rag to blot it dry, you certainly won’t go wrong.
