Consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables and also drinking natural fruit and vegetable juices is recommended by doctors and nutrition experts, not only to strengthen the immune system, but also because of a number of other positive effects on human health.
If you want to prepare a truly healthy and strengthening drink, make a smoothie in which red beetroot will make up 25% and apples 75%. And why these two ingredients?
The secret of red beetroot
Why red beetroot? This vegetable not only has a distinctive taste, but is characterized by a number of healing effects. You might expect it to be full of vitamins, but it contains only very small amounts of vitamins C and B.
However, when it comes to minerals, red beetroot is truly rich in them. It contains especially large amounts of iron and silica, but selenium, potassium and zinc are also present. However, if you suffer from diabetes, due to the higher sugar content you should consume red beetroot only occasionally and in small amounts.
If you are troubled by high blood pressure, red beetroot is the right choice, because a British study showed that consumption of beetroot juice has an essentially immediate optimizing effect on blood pressure levels that lasts for several hours.
Red beetroot is also known for its effects in the treatment of oncological diseases, where it helps primarily against recurrence in patients who have been cured, but it also alleviates the disease and slows tumor growth, which has been demonstrated for example in breast cancer.
The power of apples
You may consider apples just a tasty type of fruit rich in vitamins (C, A, K, E and several members of the B group), but they also contain a number of other substances, for example
- potassium
- carbohydrates
- fiber
- copper
- manganese, and also beneficial
- polyphenols.
For better effects, it is always better to eat apples with the skin, which contains many of these important substances.
Due to their high water and fiber content, apples are ideal if you are undergoing a weight-loss process. It has been shown that eating apples increases the feeling of satiety and thus reduces the need to consume excess calories.
Apples also contribute, for example, to lower levels of bad cholesterol in the blood.
