There is an almost endless variety of types of laundry detergents and their manufacturers on our market, and everyone can choose the one whose properties and scent suit them best.
The most basic types of laundry products include
- classic laundry powder
- washing tablets, and
- laundry gel.
Methods of dosing the different types of detergents
A dispenser, which is a direct part of every washing machine, is used for dosing classic washing powder. The dosing instructions are always stated on each powder package, but simply put, if you have a normally loaded washing machine and the laundry is not soiled beyond the usual level, a dosage corresponding to 100 g of powder should be perfectly sufficient.
At present, concentrated washing powders are attracting increasing attention for several reasons. Above all, they are more environmentally friendly, take up less space in the home, and a smaller dose than classic powder is sufficient for successful washing. Compared to classic washing powders, concentrated ones often also have a better composition, and the washing result can even be better than when using a larger amount of traditional washing powder. Again, assuming a normally loaded washing machine and laundry not excessively soiled, only 80 g of concentrated washing powder will suffice.
The advantage of washing tablets is their simplicity, because the consumer does not have to think about the size of the dose. As for tablet placement, people most often put it directly into the drum with the laundry, but it is also possible to place it in the machine’s dispenser, which many people do not know. This method can be recommended especially if your laundry has stains you want to remove effectively. If the tablet is placed in the dispenser, it gets into the wash cycle more quickly and can therefore start acting on stains practically immediately.
When dosing laundry gel, you can use either the drum or the dispenser; here too the less frequent method can be recommended, namely applying the gel directly to the laundry in the drum.
Errors in the amount of detergent
If you use significantly less detergent than prescribed, you cannot expect a good result, especially if the laundry is truly soiled and has stains. If you regularly washed laundry this way, it could even become gray and its appearance would generally deteriorate. Colors also lose their brightness this way.
Conversely, if you significantly increase the dose of detergent, a common negative consequence will be powder gathering in the folds of the laundry and the need to wash the clothes again. This method is also harmful to the environment.
