In my youth I was always slim and beautiful, but as happens, age quietly passed the fifty mark and I began to notice that I was gaining weight. At first it was an annoying belly, hips, and my legs began to thicken a bit. It was unpleasant to look in the mirror. Of course, I understood that metabolism slows down with age, and that is hard to avoid. But I decided to take the opportunity and do something about it.
1. I changed my eating habits
First of all I focused on my diet.
I eliminated unhealthy foods.
I stopped eating various sweet buns, cakes, fried and fatty foods, and pickles. My diet now includes grains, fruit, vegetables, boiled eggs, kefir, stewed fish and chicken.
2. I prefer buckwheat porridge
I cook buckwheat porridge without salt and oil like this: in the evening I pour boiling water over the buckwheat and cover it with a clean cloth. In the morning it’s ready, tasty and nutritious.
3. I eat regularly but in smaller portions
I eat normal meals three times a day, but in smaller portions. I added two snacks – either vegetables or fruit.
4. I included foods that speed up metabolism
I added foods that speed up the metabolism to my diet. These include grapefruit, green apples, beans, broccoli, buckwheat, oatmeal, almonds, chicken fillet, kefir, spinach and cinnamon. I try to eat at least five of these foods each week.
5. I don’t eat at night
Although it may sound banal, I don’t eat in the evening after 7 p.m. I try to eat as early as possible so the body has enough time to digest.
6. I sleep 8 hours a day
I am in bed between 22:00 and 23:00 and sleep exactly 8 hours. That is also key for health and body regeneration.
7. I drink enough fluids
Another way to speed up the metabolism is to drink a glass of water on an empty stomach in the morning after waking up. During the day I try to drink 1 to 2 glasses of plain water or green tea.
8. Physical activity is essential
Every day I do gymnastics. The exercise is simple but lasts about 40 minutes; I don’t forget stretching. I also try to go for long walks in the fresh air, regardless of the weather. In winter I ski.
Results and changes after a year:
This lifestyle led to an improvement in my metabolism. In a year I managed to get rid of the extra kilograms, my belly disappeared, my hips narrowed and my legs are slimmer. What is even more important to me, I began to feel better, I have more energy, headaches subsided and my blood pressure stabilized.
Many people tell me that I even look more attractive in the face. And I’m 58 years old! By my example I proved that even though changes come with age, it is possible to slow them down and speed up your metabolism. So don’t give up!
