Do you love cookies, but don’t want to buy them in a department store, since they contain lots of dyes, sugars and harmful preservatives? In corona times you can brighten your moments at home by baking and thus create your own, crispy and fragrant cookies. You just need to know how.
Ingredients you will need
The cookie recipe is simple and so are the required ingredients. Maybe everything you need you will find in your pantry at home. Once you have these ingredients ready, you can start baking homemade treats.
- Fat – 250 g
- Eggs – 3 pcs
- Sugar – 250 g
- Flour – 800 g (you can substitute with a gluten-free variant)
- Baking powder – 1 pc
- Vanilla sugar – 1 pc
- Lemon zest
Easy and quick preparation
Mix all the ingredients listed above and create a dough from which you will knead a larger ball. Prepare a press and set the attachment according to your preference. Cookies can have different shapes and sizes. If you don’t have a press at home, it’s enough to roll the dough into a thinner layer and use cutters to make the cookies.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees, and once it’s ready, put the baking sheet with the cookies in it for twenty minutes. Individual pieces should be at least one to two centimeters apart on the sheet. They will expand during baking and could stick together and deform.
Useful tips for preparation and baking
If you don’t want animal fat in the cookies, you can replace it with margarine or butter. In that case adjust the amount of flour accordingly. Margarine is not as dense, so you need to add more flour. The dough should be firmer so that it holds its shape when cutting out, but not too firm so that the cookies remain tender and moist after baking.
Add your secret ingredient to the dough
You can also add your favorite treats to the cookies. Ideal ingredients are walnuts or hazelnuts, also almonds, coconut, chocolate or various types of flavoring, according to your taste. If you decide on chocolate, grate it directly into the flour on the grater. In the cookies it will melt gently and taste perfect.
Christmas cookies
Since Christmas is slowly and surely approaching, you can also use cookies to replace candies. Just add apple, rum or gingerbread flavoring and your home will be filled with the scent of Christmas.
