Maintaining a 90° angle between the chin and the neck results in taut skin on the face and neck. That lengthens our youthful appearance and delays the signs of aging. Dancers pay close attention to this, and when you see such a person you immediately recognize that they exercise regularly so their muscles don’t sag and the head does not tilt forward. Unfortunately aging causes muscles to sag, fat to accumulate and the skin to loosen. But that is not the only cause. Today such signs appear even in young people due to the use of mobile phones. It’s called sms-chin. Smart phones are to blame.
The angle of youth and beauty
A beautifully shaped angle between the chin and the neck takes 5 – 10 years off your age. In the past young girls used to carry books on their heads so that their chin would literally stick forward. They had to sit upright, and the books on their heads forced them to strengthen their neck muscles. This ensured that their chin did not fall toward the ground. Dancers learn to walk upright and imagine they are puppets controlled by strings so that they constantly stand erect. The result is tightened skin on the face, prevention of wrinkle formation, because the neck muscles are firm.
How to do it?
Facial muscle exercises – gymnastics – can help us. You can watch that in our video. Another good aid is lymphatic drainage. If our lymphatic system does not work well, lymph does not flow in the body. Swelling forms, we have puffy eyelids, bags under the eyes, a double chin and we look older. Gentle massage can restore the flow of lymph.
Get rid of your mobile phones
When you look around, almost everyone is holding their phone. Instead of the head pointing up and forward, it is tilted forward, chin down. Over time our neck and facial muscles become shortened, and if we lift our head it hurts at the back of the neck. This is all a consequence of excessive use of our mobiles. Try to think about how much time you spend constantly browsing social networks and interacting on them; ask friends to photograph you when you are looking at your phone, and then look at the photo. Your head is tilted forward, your back is hunched. Even at a relatively young age you will feel back and cervical spine pain. Keep in mind that real life is happening around you, not somewhere on social networks, because it is real, it is yours, and someone else’s.
