Sweetened drinks of all kinds are among popular vices. Their sweet taste, very pleasant to the human senses, however brings with it many negative effects on the human body. Therefore drinking sweet drinks, this in essence unobtrusive addiction, can become the cause of many health problems. Not only do they slow metabolism, but they also adversely affect bowel movements, cell nutrition or the natural elimination of toxins. Water, recommended during diets, in light of these facts becomes the logical and truly healthiest liquid that the human body can take. Which substances then make sweetened drinks a time bomb?
Syrups
These fruit and vegetable juices contain plant extracts, but also synthetic substances. Syrups are often „enriched“ with fructose syrup and carcinogenic substances such as saccharin and cyclamate.
Bagged teas
Besides natural aromas they contain colorants, caffeine and citric acid. It is precisely the colorants that can adversely affect human teeth. The largest share is held by teas made from forest fruits, the smallest by herbal teas.
Flavored waters
In the case of sparkling versions they contain carbon dioxide. Among other things they also contain antioxidants, citric acid, beta-carotene or glucose-fructose syrup. It is the glucose-fructose syrup that causes weight gain, liver problems or increased cholesterol levels.
Energy drinks
These kinds of drinks contain various combinations of substances and thus affect the human body in different ways. Stimulating drinks that contain particularly caffeine provide energy, but at the same time reduce calcium absorption. Electrolyte drinks contain sodium and potassium, whose deficiency can cause cramps, however they are full of carbohydrates. Gainers, drinks that support muscle mass growth, contain 60–90% carbohydrates, such as fructose, glucose or sucrose. Cola-type drinks contain brown coloring, caffeine, carbon dioxide and sugar, which causes weight gain or tooth decay.
