If you are among beef lovers, you surely know many ways to prepare it. The key to success, however, usually lies in choosing the right cut of meat. If you don’t choose well, it can happen that the cooking process does more harm than good and instead of becoming tender and juicy, the meat is dried out and often tough.

Sometimes our options are limited by what is available on the market, and sometimes by financial reasons. For all these cases, however, we have a tip for a unique marinade that will make your beef always tender and tasty. The secret lies in one unusual ingredient: kiwi.

Required ingredients

For the marinade to tenderize beef you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 – 1.5 kg of beef, according to your preference
  • 1 to 2 kiwis (depending on size)
  • onion
  • garlic
  • rosemary, or other preferred seasoning.
  • salt,
  • pepper.

Preparation method

Rinse the meat well under running cold water and then pat it dry. It is preferable to cut it into slices, because this allows the marinade to be absorbed better.

Peel the kiwi and, depending on the firmness of the fruit, grate the flesh with a grater or blend it.

When you have the kiwi base ready, add finely diced onion and garlic to it and season to taste.

Place the beef slices in the prepared marinade so that they are submerged in the marinade on both sides. Then cover the container with the marinated meat with a lid or cling film and let the meat marinate for at least 30 minutes. If it seems you bought a really tough piece of meat, you can leave it in the marinade a little longer just to be sure, but never more than 2 hours. That is the absolute maximum, because after that the meat’s structure itself would begin to break down.

An undeniable advantage of this marinade is that it also speeds up the preparation of beef, reducing it to a maximum of 50 minutes. Thanks to the composition of the marinade, the resulting dish will always be juicy and tender.

Enjoy your meal!
