Almost everyone has a hair dryer at home, but not everyone is aware of its unique uses. Finally you will be able to make full use of it not only for blow-drying after a shower, but also as a helper in the household. With these tricks you can clean wax that spilled onto a placemat from a candle, open a newly sealed envelope, or inflate a mattress for unexpected guests.
Stains on wooden surfaces
Placing teacups on wooden tables often leaves characteristic rings that are not easy to clean. A hair dryer will solve this problem. Treat the affected part of the table with the hair dryer for about 1–2 minutes and the stain will disappear.
Inflating a mattress
Guests are on their way and you unpack the inflatable bed you keep stored at home for such occasions. But inflating it is such a chore! Thanks to this tip you’ll inflate it without unnecessary trouble. Insert a plastic bottle into the opening, cut off its end and attach it to the hair dryer’s nozzle with adhesive tape. Then just turn the dryer on and you’re done!
Removing a bandage
Applying a bandage is an easy and painless act, but removing it can sometimes be very painful. Especially with children we often try to avoid that. A hair dryer will help: warm the bandage with it and once the adhesive becomes gooey you can simply peel the bandage off. Just don’t hold the dryer close to the skin so you don’t burn the child! Rather proceed slowly and hold the dryer a little further away from the body.
Spilled wax
Dropped wax on a carpet or other fabric is not easy to remove. Cover the problem area with paper towels and heat them with the hair dryer. The towels will absorb the wax and after removing them you’ll see that the wax stain has disappeared.
Smoothing out wrinkled clothes
If you don’t have an iron but urgently need to smooth out some clothing, use a hair dryer and a spray bottle. Lightly mist the clothing with the spray and then blow-dry it while it hangs vertically. Suddenly there won’t be a trace of creases!
