The white lily is popular mainly for its elegant appearance and pleasant scent. Besides its beauty, however, it also hides medicinal effects. It contains substances that contribute to the reduction of pain in the musculoskeletal system, particularly in the area of the legs.

There are many ways to use the healing effects of the white lily. In general, however, it is true that maximizing the positive properties of natural substances is easiest to achieve in the form of tinctures and infusions. That is why we have prepared both of these options for you.

Infusion from flowers and leaves

To prepare an effective tincture we will need:

  • Lily petals – 2 cups
  • Lily leaves – 2 cups
  • Sunflower oil – 1/3 cup

Preparation:

Chop the lily leaves and flowers finely and mix. Add the oil, mix thoroughly together and store in a warm sunny spot. Leave this mixture to steep there for 3 weeks. Apply the finished oil directly to the affected area.

Tincture from petals

Ingredients for making:

  • Lily petals (according to the intended amount)
  • Ethyl alcohol

Method:

Place the chosen container, add the lily petals and pour alcohol over them so that they are completely submerged in it. Store in a dark place and let steep for 3 weeks. After this period has passed, you can begin to use the tincture.

The tincture from the petals is suitable not only for relieving pain, but also for treating small scratches and cuts. It is also effective as a preparation against pain in the throat. For this purpose, mix a tablespoon of the tincture with a glass of water. Gargle the resulting solution.

Beneficial effects of the lily? Nothing new

In the past, the lily bulb was used especially. It was crushed, boiled in milk or water and applied to the affected area in the form of compresses. These special compresses provided relief for skin inflammations or ulcers. Even during the last century it was possible to purchase crushed lily bulbs preserved in oil or alcohol at pharmacies.
