As every year, this cold season is again accompanied by colds, flu, rhinitis and other nuisances. Once illness attacks us, we feel lethargic, tired, and may have a fever, headaches and joint pain.
When fighting the flu and the common cold we should not forget a sufficiently varied diet. From autumn onward you should pay attention to boosting your immunity and ensure you have enough energy to fight the treacherous cold weather.
Recipe for a syrup against winter ailments
Try this universal remedy, which will improve your immunity and fight any infections and inflammations that may appear in your body.
You will need:
- 2 cups apple cider vinegar
- 3 teaspoons turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 4 chili peppers (or jalapenos)
These foods are full of vitamins and anti-inflammatory substances. They support the proper function of organs such as the liver, lungs or endocrine glands, which take the hardest hit during illness.
Put all ingredients into a little water and blend in a blender so that all components combine perfectly. Then pour the mixture into a sealable container. Shake once a day. Let the jar stand for 4 weeks. Don’t forget to shake the jar every day, so keep it in a visible place. Then strain the mixture through a piece of cheesecloth and store it in the refrigerator. It should keep for up to 2 years.
Take the syrup whenever you feel that „something is coming on“. The recommended dosage is 2 teaspoons daily if you are taking the remedy preventively. If the illness nevertheless breaks out in full force, take 4 teaspoons daily. Although the mixture is very concentrated and the taste may seem too strong, do not dilute it with water! To reduce the intensity, mix the dose with a spoonful of honey.
