Folding socks may seem like a complete triviality. Usually we throw them into a drawer and the next days we vainly search for two matching ones to make a pair. Some get lost already during washing. In just a few seconds, however, you can fold socks in a way that will save you time and space in the wardrobe. How to do it?
- Cross the socks over one another
- Begin folding them like an accordion
- Tuck the end of each sock into the fold you’ve created
Detailed procedure
Although it sounds complicated, you’ll fully automate the process in no time. Take both socks, place one horizontally and the other lengthwise over it so that the toe of one sock points upward and the other’s points to the right. Grab the toe of the bottom sock that points to the right and fold it over the top sock toward the left. Tuck the protruding toe under the top sock.
Repeat the folding in a similar way with the section on your left. Fold it again over the created fold, but leave the remainder protruding. Now repeat the same procedure with the other sock. Take the toe on the top part, fold it and tuck the remainder under the fold, and fold the other side of the sock upwards.

Turn the whole formed piece over. The folding creates pockets on the socks into which you can now comfortably tuck the protruding ends of both socks. This will form a square shape that you can then easily stack in the drawer. The socks won’t separate from each other, they will save you a lot of space, and you’ll also always have a perfect overview of their colors.
This method is also very useful when traveling, when you need to save as much space as possible in your suitcase or bag. Once you learn to fold socks like this, you’ll get faster and faster. Neatly arranged like this they will look far better in a drawer than tossed in a heap, and folding them is great fun that you can even involve children in. They’ll also practice their motor skills and help you with the laundry.
