Garlic is rich in fiber, organic acids, phosphorus and calcium salts, nitrogenous substances, essential oils, enzymes and other substances that are beneficial not only for people, but also for plants. Garlic nourishes the soil and rids it of parasitic microorganisms. Insert several cloves into the soil in the pot and you will see that your plants will do much better.
How to use garlic? You can prepare a garlic infusion
Basic use is very simple: just peel several cloves of garlic, cut them into smaller pieces and insert them about one to two centimeters deep into the soil. But remember to remove the garlic after a few days, it could start to rot in the soil and cause mold, which would do more harm than good. Many people also prepare a nutritious garlic rinse that works as a natural fertilizer. The recipe is simple:
- crush one clove of garlic per one liter of water,
- let the garlic steep in the water for at least 24 hours,
- water the plants with the resulting infusion as you normally would.
Thanks to garlic you can protect your houseplants from pests, fungi and bacteria. The plants will be more vigorous and healthier and the soil will be clean, free of harmful pathogens.
Garlic repels many pests, including moles
Thanks to its natural repellent properties, garlic is a perfect tool for repelling pests. This easily prepared garlic tonic works great on pests such as aphids. Garlic can also help you drive moles out of your garden. Use whole or crushed garlic and place it directly into their tunnels. The smell of garlic is very strong for their sensitive noses, which encourages them to leave the area. Growing garlic is therefore a great prevention against the presence of moles and voles in your garden, because even the roots of garlic have their own specific scent that repels the aforementioned animals.
