Basic recipe for fresh homemade cheese
To prepare the basic recipe you need only three ingredients:
- 1 liter of skimmed milk,
- 1 large yogurt,
- juice from one half of a lemon.
You will also need a clean cloth or cheesecloth and a pot. The procedure is as follows: heat the milk in a pot and cook for 15 minutes, then add the yogurt and lemon juice. Stir for a few minutes and let the resulting mixture sit in the refrigerator for three hours. Then strain the whey from the cheese through the cloth. Place the resulting cheese in a lidded container and leave it for another 30 minutes in the refrigerator. You can salt it further and let it rest for another eight hours. You will obtain a natural and tasty source of calcium without artificial preservatives and colorings. The cheese should be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within three days.
You can flavor homemade cheese and create countless tasty variations
You will soon find that preparing this cheese is very simple and the final product tastes wonderful.
