No one will deny the fact that we Czechs are a nation of schnitzel lovers. Such a schnitzel is among the most popular dishes here. If you bake it in the oven instead of frying it in a pan with oil, you get your favorite dish and at the same time save your health. Schnitzel baked in the oven is just as tasty and not greasy. You will also save time, the schnitzels will cook in the oven by themselves, you don’t have to stand over them and you can use the time for yourself or other necessary activities. For oven schnitzels prepare:

  • 200 g beef
  • 300 g pork
  • 1 pc onion
  • 2 pcs potatoes
  • 2 pcs eggs
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 125 ml milk
  • 3 slices bread
  • salt, ground pepper, parsley to taste
  • sour cream

Preparation method for schnitzels baked in the oven

If you have all the above ingredients ready, it’s time to start the preparation and the actual baking. Don’t be afraid, it’s not difficult at all — even a beginner cook can prepare these schnitzels. Run the beef and pork through a meat grinder. If you don’t feel like grinding, you can buy already ground meat in the same quantities as listed above. Add the finely chopped onion to the ground meat. Now grate both potatoes finely using a grater. Add the grated potatoes, pepper, salt, eggs and the pressed garlic to the ground meat. Mix the mixture thoroughly.

Next, dip the slices of bread into the milk and let them soak for 5 minutes, then blend the slices in the milk. Add this bread mash to the minced meat mixture and put it to rest in the refrigerator for one hour.

After one hour take the mixture out; it should be suitably firm so that you can easily shape the schnitzels. Shape them and place them with spacing next to each other on a greased baking tray. Bake for about 40 minutes in a preheated oven at 180° C. Now just pour over the schnitzels the sauce you make by mixing sour cream, pressed garlic and a little water. You can season it again to your taste. Bake in the oven with the sauce as well.
