That the Czech Republic is a nation of beer lovers cannot be denied in our country. Despite its alcohol content, this popular drink is known for its positive effects on human health. While some of these properties are generally known, others are not widely known. It is high time to correct that.

The secret of beneficial effects

So what, then, is the source of beer’s beneficial qualities? Vitamins of the B group have a positive effect on the human organism – specifically vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B12. They are essential for metabolic processes, blood formation, and are also important for proper metabolic functioning.

One of the most important components of beer is hops. It is responsible for its typical bitterness. Besides the taste aspect, it also gives this well-known beverage flavonoids – substances that calm the body’s functions and are known for their strong antioxidant properties.

Beer and the brain

Based on scientific studies, something unexpected has been shown – among people who regularly enjoy beer, the risk of neurodegenerative diseases is reduced, specifically Alzheimer’s disease and senile dementia. At the same time, it appears that this drink also has a positive effect on memory. Even here, however, moderation is important – alcohol, which is an integral part of most beers, has rather the opposite effects in larger amounts.

Are you troubled by insomnia? Beer can help with this problem as well. This is due to the presence of actoflavin and kinotinic acid – these substances positively affect healthy sleep and help in the fight against insomnia.

Stronger bones and reduced risk of clot formation

Beer – or more precisely the silicon contained in it – also contributes to the strengthening of bones. As a result, they are firmer and therefore less prone to fractures.

The effects of beer also manifest within the circulatory system – and not only the negative ones. With moderate drinking of this beverage, the risk of blood clot formation is reduced, which in extreme cases can even cause a person’s death. This property is due to a substance called warfarin, which is used to thin the blood.
