Stress. One of the most pressing and serious problems of our modern and hurried world. We experience stress at work, in the family and in partnerships, we worry about the future and about what we don’t manage to do. However, if you don’t learn to handle such tense situations, sooner or later many illnesses may develop in you as a result of stress. Therefore do not underestimate stress and try to avoid it as much as possible.
Mental disorders
Stress and depression can cause fatigue, passivity and indifference, emotional instability, a feeling of alienation and panic attacks. Sometimes people in such cases begin to cope with them by smoking or alcoholic drinks, which leads to the development of addictions. If we don’t watch out for stress, it can even grow into a mental illness. So rather learn a few basic techniques of mental self-care.
Problems with the heart, digestive system and skin
Emotional instability also affects the cardiovascular system and exerts constant pressure on it. As a consequence of stress, heart arrhythmias, high blood pressure, heart failure, lack of oxygen in the body or problems with varicose veins may occur. None of these problems should be underestimated. Another important prevention is, of course, a healthy lifestyle.
Stress indirectly affects our digestive system as well. While some people deal with stressful situations by overeating, others cannot swallow a single bite in such a situation. Stress can also lead to an excess of stomach acid, the development of ulcers, gallstones, constipation or diarrhea. If stress is long-term, it can also show on our skin. Various eczemas, psoriasis, acne or dermatitis sometimes arise as a result of prolonged excessive stress.
Migraines, cancer and diabetes
Headaches are also in most cases caused by great stress and anxiety. We can observe for ourselves that as soon as we start to stress, a migraine often follows shortly. In extreme cases it is accompanied by dizziness and vomiting. A far better solution than swallowing pills is therefore to try to avoid stress and to give yourself at least a little time each day.
Research has shown that stressed and nervous women experience breast cancer more often than calm and balanced women. Pregnant women should also be careful – according to doctors the predisposition to diabetes is formed already in the womb if the mother is exposed to excessive stress during pregnancy. In the postpartum period chronic stress or depression can cause diabetes at practically any time.
