It’s the weekend and you’re in the mood to bake your favorite dessert? Then don’t wait for the dough to rise and use the one you’ve already had prepared in the fridge for a week just for this occasion. Sounds like a fairy tale? With this recipe you’ll always be ready for an unexpected visitor or your cravings.
Whatever you fancy…
Are you craving a savory pie, sweet rolls or perhaps your favorite pastry? Then prepare it simply and quickly. Don’t wait for the dough to rise. Prepare it up to a week in advance and keep the dough ready in your fridge. It’s absolutely simple.
To prepare the dough, you will need:
- 50 g yeast
- 200 ml milk
- 200 g butter
- half a teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 500 g semi-coarse flour
Dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Add the sugar and salt to the mixture and mix everything thoroughly. Add melted butter or margarine to the blended mixture. Then simply add the semi-coarse flour and knead carefully until it reaches the consistency of a firm dough.
Shape the resulting dough into a roll or a small loaf and wrap it tightly in cling film. The wrapped dough should not be in contact with air at all. If you want to use the dough right away for baking, let it chill in the fridge for at least half an hour. If you won’t start baking immediately, it will keep in the fridge like this for up to seven days.
With the dough you can prepare all kinds of treats
After unwrapping the dough from the cling film you will immediately have nicely firm and tender, risen dough at hand. With it you can at any time make tasty baked goods or, for example, filled rolls or turnovers. The dough is also great for making delicious buns. A sweet or savory pie is also an excellent choice. Savory pies are a perfect dish to prepare for your guests. For example, a savory pie with spinach or good salami will please every guest you have.
