Do you need tasty snacks for your guests or do you just want to delight your family with a homemade treat? With this simple recipe you’re sure to please and at the same time you can try something new and interesting. If you enjoy baking and experimenting, definitely don’t hesitate. This dish is tasty, filling, and gourmets of every age will enjoy it.

What will you need to make it?

To prepare these excellent potato cakes you will need 1 kg of flour, 50 dkg of cooked potatoes, 2 dl of sour cream, 3 whole eggs and 1 egg for glazing, 1 cube of yeast (5 dkg), 3 teaspoons of salt, 35 dkg of margarine, 10 dkg of fat, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 3 dl of lukewarm milk and 20 dkg of cheese. You can also sprinkle the cakes with seeds if you wish.

Preparation

Mix the flour with the salt and margarine, add the cold pierced potatoes, then the yeast in sweetened milk, the 3 beaten eggs and the sour cream. Mix well and form a dough. Cover the prepared board with flour and prepare a soft dough. Then let it rest for about 10 minutes, spread with fat, mix and let it rest for another 10 minutes.

Once the dough has rested, you can roll it out and portion it into individual cakes. Brush each of them with the beaten egg. Then sprinkle them with grated cheese, or with selected seeds if desired, and put them in the oven. Bake at 220 degrees Celsius for about 15 to 20 minutes, but you can bake them a little longer. Preparing this dough is not difficult at all and the result will be tender, delicate and fluffy. As a snack for a party or an important event they are absolutely perfect.

A small final tip

When kneading the dough don’t forget to properly flour the work surface, but you should not work in extra flour, because then the dough will become hard. The dough should be perfectly elastic so that after baking it is wonderfully crisp. If you want, you can prepare a homemade dip for the pastry or serve ketchup on the side. But this is not necessary at all, because thanks to the potatoes and cheese the cakes will taste great on their own.
