We usually spread mustard on bread, enjoy it as a side to meat or make spicy dips from it. Few people, however, know that mustard seeds are extraordinarily effective in treating pains and other health problems. They can even be used to eliminate persistent back pain in a relatively short time and act against the flu and colds.
Mustard has been used for centuries
Mustard seeds contain proteins, essential oils and a whole range of vitamins. We also find a varied spectrum of minerals in them. For centuries they have been used externally to relieve pain; Indians even apply them to the scalp to promote hair growth. Internally they are taken to support digestion, as they increase the production of stomach juices. If symptoms of a cold appear, we can turn to mustard seeds or even ready-made mustard for help.
The best is to make your own mustard by crushing the mustard seed, but that option is very laborious and time-consuming. If you don’t feel like preparing it, you can use regular store-bought mustard from the shop, but make sure it doesn’t contain any unnecessary chemicals, colorings, preservatives or artificial flavorings. If possible, its composition should be as natural as possible.
Leave the wrap on overnight
The only thing you then need to do, if you are experiencing cold symptoms, is to rub mustard onto both soles up to the ankles and wrap them in a soft towel or cloth. Pull a nylon bag over it and put on larger, thick socks. Try to keep the mustard on your feet as long as possible. It is ideal to perform this procedure before going to bed and to go to sleep with your feet wrapped like this.
In the morning, when you get up, walk around a little first to get your blood circulation going. Then remove the socks, bag and cloth or towel from your feet and wash your feet with warm water. After the first use you may notice that cold symptoms slowly disappear and your feet are also soft and hydrated.
