Don’t know what to serve your family or friends? Tired of coming up with original pastries, modern cupcakes, mini cakes and the like? How about trying something more traditional? Fry pancakes for your friends or family. Believe me, they’ll be snapped up. You can also jazz them up, for example with sweet curd cheese, top with whipped cream sprinkled with decorations or pieces of chocolate. Pancakes are also excellent with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and pieces of white chocolate – definitely a delicacy.

Pancakes and more ideas

Pancakes are prepared very quickly and are tasty, they probably please everyone. The best part is that you can make them savory as well. For example, you can fry pieces of mushrooms on onion and fill the batter. Or you can stay with the classic – sweet pancakes, condensed milk and jam. It depends only on your taste, but also on your creativity.

For the pancakes you will need:

  • Milk 2 cups
  • Plain flour 2 cups
  • Butter 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar 4 tablespoons
  • Eggs 4
  • Water 1 glass of warm water
  • Vanilla sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • Starch 1 tablespoon

Beat the eggs with the sugar, salt and vanilla sugar. Then add the milk and the melted butter. Mix everything well again with a whisk. Now it’s time to add the water and the starch, mix again. Finally add the flour. Pour it in small portions and keep whisking to avoid lumps. Once you have a smooth, liquid batter, prepare a pan. Put a few drops of oil on a low-heat pan and fry a thin pancake. Fry about half a minute on each side.

A healthier method

Did you know you can make pancakes in a healthier way? For example from ground oats or spelt flour? Spelt flour can completely replace wheat flour, it behaves exactly the same. You just need to use smooth/plain spelt flour. It’s different with oat flakes; they absorb a larger amount of liquid, and therefore it will be important to add more milk.
