Quality glasses are an investment for several years and are definitely not cheap goods. If scratches appear on them within a few days, it’s an unpleasant situation that needs to be resolved. You don’t have to buy new glasses right away, but with the help of simple tricks you can restore your current ones and save even several thousand.
The following methods will get rid of scratched glasses
Just use, for example, baby wipes. Gently wipe the glasses’ lens with a small piece of the wipe and they will be like new. Easy cleaning using readily available baby wipes, which for the most part are not soaked in chemicals. You can also mix a drop of window cleaner and a drop of dishwashing liquid. If you have a lemon at home, add it to the mixture and you’ll get a solution that will remove scratches.
Pure alcohol is the best cleaning agent because it is also used for disinfection
There is no need to buy expensive lens wipes, because alcohol does the same job. Dissolve half a teaspoon in baking soda and pour this solution onto a microfiber cloth and wipe the glasses’ lenses.
Toothpaste or ordinary soap will also work well
If you don’t have copper cutlery at home, you may not even have polish for it. But it is a very effective means of cleaning glasses from dirt and scratches. Car polishing wax will help the same way: apply it to a cloth and thoroughly rub the lenses of the glasses. Afterwards the glasses must be rinsed with plenty of water to prevent wax buildup on the lens.
For smaller dirt, mix liquid soap with water and wipe the glasses with a microfiber cloth
It’s the simplest and cheapest solution. For greater effectiveness you can add a pinch of baking soda. Everyone has toothpaste at home, which you can also use to clean glasses. Toothpastes containing tartar removers and bleach are not suitable. Baking powder is known mainly in the kitchen, but it can save glasses from being ruined. Use at most one teaspoon of the powder, because if you use a lot of it you can scratch the glasses even more.
If you use windshield cleaners for the car, you can also use them on glasses if they are scratched
Not only will you clean them, but you will also prevent the lenses from fogging. If you have metal polishing paste in the garage, use it on the glasses as well. Apply a little paste, then rinse with pure alcohol and plenty of water. Thanks to these tricks you will save a lot of money and you can wear your favorite glasses for several years.
