We all love strawberries. They are sweet and also completely nutritious. They provide our body with a large amount of important vitamins, as well as mineral substances. They can be used for a sweet sauce, in dumplings, in shakes, as a snack. They contain a significant amount of vitamins C, B, A and others. Among minerals there are potassium, calcium, phosphorus and iron. But to enjoy such delicious strawberries packed with vitamins, you need to use the power of fertilizer now. And as you surely know, it is best if you use fertilizers containing natural substances, not chemical ones.
Why fertilize strawberries in spring and with what?
Fertilizing strawberries in spring is very important. This provides the small plants with the necessary trace elements and the strawberries will ripen better and their fruits will also be larger and more delicious. The plants will be stronger and will bear many more fruits. For this step you don’t have to buy chemical fertilizers from the garden center; you can use just yeast. Such a raw material is rich in vitamin B, proteins, carbohydrates and important mineral substances. If you dissolve yeast in water, it creates special and beneficial compounds that support the expansion of the root system, which is very important for restoring the health of strawberry plants. The so‑called yeasts will provide nutrition to the strawberries before flowering and fruiting.
How to prepare fertilizer from yeast?
To make the fertilizer you can use either dried yeast or fresh yeast. For making the fertilizer prepare: two and a half liters of water at room temperature and 500 grams of yeast broken into small pieces — it dissolves better. Stir and let it sit for two days in a dark place; a process called fermentation will take place. After two days the fertilizer will be ready for use. The result must still be diluted with water so that you mix it with twenty liters of water. Then use approximately 200–500 milliliters of the diluted fertilizer per one strawberry plant.
Fertilizer from dried yeast
Prepare the fertilizer in this amount: two packets of yeast, two tablespoons of sugar and two cups of warm water. Dissolve all the ingredients in the water and let them steep in a warm place for four hours. Dilute the resulting concentrate in a bucket or other container with water at room temperature. You can use 250 milliliters of fertilizer per two liters of water. In this way provide the strawberries with nutrition three times per season.
When to provide fertilization
Fertilize strawberries for the first time in mid-spring — at the end of April, beginning of May; the second dose should take place in late spring before fruit growth. The third dose should be after the harvest, which is certainly in autumn.
