Such women’s tights are a great invention. But what do you do when you get a run? Do you throw them away? That’s a pity, because nylon stockings can still be put to great use around the house. Just as a curiosity: did you know that long ago there used to be repair shops for stockings? Unfortunately that industry has disappeared and often nylons are thrown away after the first wear. You should definitely pause before you throw out your tights next time. Recycle them by reusing them around the home.
Tights against moths
How can nylons work against moths? Not by themselves, of course, but if you make small sachets from them and fill them with dried lavender, they serve excellently as a deterrent to pantry and clothes moths alike. Moths do not like the scent of lavender and steer clear of it.
Dust in hard-to-reach places will disappear instantly
Tights can also be used as a duster for hard-to-reach places. For example under the fridge, behind the wall unit, or under a heavy sofa. It’s enough to take an old pair of tights and form a small ball from them. Attach the prepared nylon with an elastic band or wire to a clothes hanger or some longer, very thin rod. Now you can start cleaning. Dust and crumbs will cling to the synthetic fibers like a magnet.
Scented sachets
And again those sachets. Who wouldn’t like a fragrant home or fragrant clothes or car? Make several little bags from tights and fill them with dried flowers, herbs, or whatever you like. We recommend putting lemongrass, lavender, mint, rose petals, lemon and orange peel into the sachet.
For cleaning
Do you prefer an old wicker broom? If so, you surely know how such a broom tends to fall apart. If you don’t want to throw it away yet because it sweeps your yard so nicely, try using a stocking. Simply slip a piece of stocking over the sweeping part and sew it so it won’t slip. This will dress the broom in a little cover that will sweep wonderfully again.
