Women who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections certainly know how unpleasant and painful this condition is. What do you do first when you so-called get a “bladder infection”? Do you go to the pharmacy and buy cranberry-based medicines and other chemical products? Before you do that again next time, try these three remedies. We believe they will help you.

Why do infections occur?

In women, urinary tract infections occur as a result of sexual intercourse, soaps, and various contraceptive methods. These factors can promote bacterial growth. The same applies to inadequate personal hygiene. However, this is not the only reason; there are certainly more, but these are the most common. We should not forget men either; they can also experience urinary tract infections that affect the urethra, the prostate, and even the kidneys, for various reasons, for example due to habitual urine retention, diabetes, neurogenic dysfunction, vesicoureteral reflux, and genetic factors.

Treatment

Treatment of a urinary tract infection depends on its extent. If women, and men too, suffer from infections regularly, they recognize early on that something is wrong with the urinary tract and immediately start their tried-and-true treatment, thereby avoiding the use of antibiotics. However, if a urinary tract infection is neglected, you will have to visit a doctor who will put you on antibiotic treatment. But this approach is certainly problematic, because antibiotics can cause more harm than good in the body. You may also, for some reason, be unable to take antibiotics or be resistant to them. If that’s the case, try several home remedies that can reliably tackle urinary tract inflammation. Remember: if this method doesn’t work within three days, see a doctor.

Onion

Onion has long been an ancient remedy for many ailments, from coughs to urinary tract infections. You will need one medium onion and two glasses of water. Chop the onion into small pieces and bring the water with the onion to a boil, then turn off immediately. Pour the liquid into a glass and let it sit until the next day. Drink one glass on an empty stomach.

Blueberries

Blueberries are a gift of nature; they cleanse the blood and replenish important vitamins. They can even cleanse the urinary tract. Prepare one cup of blueberries, half a lemon, and one cup of water. Wash the lemon and blueberries, then squeeze the lemon into the blueberries. Blend all the ingredients into a smoothie and drink twice a day until the symptoms disappear.
